Today was the day and we did it! We finished a triathlon as a team! Team Murdock Fever won no awards other than the sense of accomplishing a cool thing together. It was the best Super-date ever. It was fun training together, and even more fun cheering each other on. Overall, it was the funnest athletic experience I have ever had!

Ily did the swim, Bryan did the bike, Ily did the run.  There was a slight mix up with the number, Ily’s ended up being 243 and Bryan’s was 347.   They body mark you for the swim so here is Ily showing off the temporary tatoo.  Also pictured is Robbalyn a friend from our club who is a breast cancer survivor and  who is the woman who convinced Ily that if she was 55 and could do it, then Ily could do it too!   If felt good to be a team and have us accomplish this together. ... See my Tabblo>

The swim was 500 yards and I am used to doing 500 meters (a tad bit longer). I didn’t take enough time off my 500 m swim time to seed me in a lane with swimmers my same speed so I ended up passing all three of them at the wall. I think I went a bit faster because of excitement too. I was one of the first swimmers out of the pool and out of the building running to the transition area and Bryan had no problems spotting me from there because my swim suit was bright orange. It fairly screamed “Hello I’m coming!” The first transition went great. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any pictures of Bryan at this point because I was soaking wet and he was ready to run off to start his bike ride.

Then the bike ride took him out away from campus for 12 miles so I didn’t get any pictures of him on the course. Very lame of us to not have planted a photographer out there… When he was done, I again forgot to get a picture of him because I was waiting to be tagged and run off on my 5K.

The 5K was a loop around campus repeated 3 times. It was a bit chilly but there was no rain. I won’t complain at all about it. Bryan was tons colder on his bike ride than I was on my run so if I did complain, I would get throttled for sure! I ran more than half of it (hurray!). It was cool to run with the crowd and chat a bit with others and Bryan could cut across the middle and cheer me on from both sides of the course. He even joined me for a bit of the course which was very much appreciated.

We finished, it was great. We might even do it again some day. It was tough, but so worth the time and effort!
