Here are the kitchen updates so far. Bit by bit, this house will become model home.
This is the kitchen as they were painting the cabinets minus the doors. It was a battle zone in there. We used our bathroom to do dishes and cook (in the crock pot) instead for those few days. Kinda gross, now that I think about it, to do my “business” and cook all in the same room! ... See my Tabblo>

I love what you have done already. How are you feeling? any morning sickness? I never got anything done while I was pregnant. My sister remodelded thier kitchen and she washed dishes in her tub for almost 6 months. of course she didn't have any kids at the time and they both worked full time and just didn't have time to remodel faster. What kind of countertops are you dreaming of?

Oh my , 6 months sounds like forever to me! After 6 full days of painters in our kitchen we were so excited to have the kitchen functioning again! We basically ate cereal, anything microwaveable, and one crockpot meal during the whole painting adventure. We even kept our food in the linen closet down the hall so nothing would be on the shelves. The kids were so happy to not have to carry plates from down the hall to the table at the other end of the house! I am so glad we did it before we emptied all of our boxes and got comfy in our kitchen though. It was a pain, but worth it to do it right away.
I am hoping for sile stone counters. Or maybe granite. Corian is just peachy with me- I would love it even, but I am thinking about resale value so we may end up with the higher end stuff. In the mean time we get the pink. Maybe I will have a girl this time and the pink is a foreshadowing of events to come?

And to answer your first question Becky, I am feeling better than I was. I have had a delicate stomach lately, but have not thrown up yet. I just really wanted to. Alot. I have been tired and had no energy and felt very queasy. I guess I should feel lucky for what pregnancy side effects I DON"T have at this point.

things are looking great so far! That is a great color in the kitchen and the white cabinets makes such a difference. And once you take care of the wallpaper :) that dining room is going to be fabulous (great fireplace mantle, btw). Good luck with the countertops. I could see myself getting really antsy over that one too.

Great pictures! (Didn't know you were pregnant, BTW. Congrats! And I agree--I never get ANYTHING done when I'm pregnant, so good for you!) The cabinets look beautiful! I know what you mean--it's such a "balance" of time and money, whether to pay someone or do it yourself, etc. We are doing EXACTLY the same thing. The house is only 9 years old, so it's not as urgent, but we are still "attacking" the things we hate first. Kevin, too, has spent quite a bit of time figuring out prices and square feet and everything. You'll see it on my blog one of these days. Hopefully before summer. Anyway, just keep doing one step at a time. It looks wonderful.

That looks like a really nice house! And a large lot, that's great! I'm sure you will enjoy it. But I have to admit, the flower wall paper and the flower carpet would've been the first to go for me... I couldn't wait 6 months.. but you guys are doing a great job fixing it up!
