Family News

Lots of missed news April 7, 2004

You may have noticed, but nothing on this website has been updated in a long time, except the pictures. I've gotten busy with my neighborhood website, being scoutmaster, and the new baby. I think it's probably time for a revamping of the web-site, or to just get rid of everything but the pictures.

Thanksgiving in Oklahoma November 30, 2003

We had a great Thanksgiving in Oklahoma with Ily's family this year. Along with her parents we got to spend time with her dad's parents, Lloyd and Dot, her dad's brother, Ron, her mom's mother, Anne-Mari, and her mom's brother, Erick. A fun crowd and of course the food was good too. Take a look at the pictures and movies from Dagmar's new digital camera!

New Online Photo Album November 22, 2003

I'm trying out a new online photo album. It's something I've downloaded, it's called Gallery, and I think it's pretty nice. To see the Murdock gallery click on the Photos tab above to check it out. The coolest feature is that anyone who gets the password from me can upload photos to the gallery, either from the web page, or by using the gallery remote software. Pretty slick, so if you want to upload photos to our gallery let me know and I'll help you do it.

Snow in Vancouver, WA!?! November 19, 2003

You better believe it, snow fell, and actually piled up on the ground here in Vancouver, WA. Check out the pictures.

Halloween Pictures October 31, 2003

Allright, I actually didn't post these pictures on the website until Nov. 22-ish, but they are finally here. We trick-or-treated at HP again this year, as well as at the ward Halloween party. Isaac was a horse and Ily was a Mexican Cowgirl, and I had a cowboy shirt but nothing else to go with it, so I didn't bother. We've got a few pictures.

New Baby Ultrasound Pictures! August 31, 2003

In case you haven't heard, Ily is pregnant and is due January 29th. We had the 18 week ultrasound on Friday and everything looked great. We also found out that it's a boy! We got to take home a couple pictures of the new baby's head and you can see them here. This new baby's fetal nickname will be forthcoming shortly (for those of you who didn't know, or don't remember, Isaac's fetal nickname was Zeke).

Camp Pioneer (Scout Camp) August 23, 2003

Bryan is serving in the ward as assistant scoutmaster and was able to attend scout camp at Camp Pioneer (east of Salem, OR, in the beautiful Cascade Mountains) from Wednesday thru Saturday. Camp fires were prohibited this year but he was still able to come home smelling like smoke thanks to the the forest fires that came to within 10 miles of the camp. He had a good time with the boys and took some pictures (link to new troop 439 website).

Nolan Wright came to visit February 14, 2003

In an effort to wean Nolan off of the great Utah skiing slowly he flew in from Texas for the weekend for a ski trip. Nolan, Lane Molen, Travest Story, Mike Trionfo, and I went skiing at Brighton on Saturday. It was another beautify sunny day, with a little more snow to cover the rocks. After the skiing trip we went to a little Korean restaurant here in Provo and met Sherisa (Nolan's sister) and Ami. Ily and Isaac came to dinner too. Nolan brought his fancy digital camera and took some pictures and videos. You can see them on his website by clicking here.

Alta ski trip January 18, 2003

In order to celebrate our return to the tops of the mountains we took a ski trip today to Alta. There was just enough packed Utah Powder to cover almost all the rocks, the sun was shining, and we had a great time. Melinda, and Mike and Nikki Trionfo came with us. It was a fun first day of skiing for the year. We even took some pictures!

A Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and a move back to Provo January 7, 2003

We spent Christmas with my family in Kennewick, our last bit of relaxation before packing up the last of our stuff, putting it in either storage or my parents' van, and driving up into the Mountains of Utah. Luckily the drive was mostly uneventful and we are now getting settled in our apartment. Don't forget to check out the pictures.

We had a Happy Halloween! 31 October 2002

The weather was really cold, and Isaac never quite got excited about the cowboy costume Ily had in mind for him, but things turned out great anyway. Isaac got plenty of candy trick-or-treating at our ward party and amongst the haunted cubicles at Hewlett Packard. More here.

Dagmar, Ily, and I (!) made a cool quilt for Ily's Grandparents 21 September 2002

Yes, I even helped Ily and her mom make a nice quilt for Ily's grandparents' 50th anniversary. I used our HP printer to print photographs from their life directly onto some fabric squares that Ily and Dagmar pieced together into this cool looking quilt for them. It was fun and it turned out well, if we do say so ourselves.

Job Offer from Hewlett Packard!!!!!!! 17 September 2002

My manager has officially offered me a full time job with HP! I'll be doing basically the same thing I'm doing now as an intern, just full time. The offer is contigent up on my finishing my B.S. in Computer Engineering, which I will resume work on in January. I'm planning on accepting the offer. Depending upon where I decide to finish school (options are here at Portland State U. or back at BYU) I will finish in either March or April and then start work as a full time employee in the Vancouver Division (that's Vancouver, not B.C., Washington, not D.C.). Ily and I are very happy and thankful for this opportunity and just wanted to share the good news with all of you.

Two Trips to Kennewick 16 and 25 August 2002

I took a weekend trip to Kennewick on the 16th while Ily and Isaac were in Utah for Cousin Allison's and friend Cinda's weddings. Then we all took a trip to Kennewick on the 25th so Isaac could see Aunt Melinda one more time before she left for another semester at the BYU. We had a little birthday party for Isaac while we were there with my family and Arthur, Sara, and Ezri. His birthday is September 5th and is two years old! Pictures here.

California Adventure 18 - 21 July 2002

We took a four day weekend and met our friend Mike and Nikki Trionfo, and Nikki's parents and younger siblings, at the Lava Beds National Monument in Northern Calinfornia. We camped, explored lava flows and caves, and learned some geology. Isaac enjoyed playing in the dirt most. We also drove over to the coast and camped amongst the Redwoods our last night there. In the morning we hiked "Damnation Trial" through the forest and down to the ocean. It was a beautiful hike (don't let the name fool you)! We had a blast, and of course, we have pictures.

Oregon Coast Trip - 29 June thru 3 July 2002

Hewlett Packard closed for the week of the Fourth of July, so we decided we better make the most of it. Ily found us a nice beach house to rent in Lincoln City on the Oregon coast. My parents joined us and we had a nice relaxing time playing in the sand and seeing the aquarium in Newport. See the photos here!

First pictures from Vancouver! - 17 June 2002

I've posted a few last pictures from Provo and our first roll or film from Vancouver this summer. Most of these pictures were taken at the the new Esther Short Park here. It has this great fountain for kids to play in and Isaac has a fun time there. There is also a picture with Julie in front of the house in Kennewick, and one of the Horrocks family who dropped by because they were in town for Chad's brother's wedding.

With Winter Semester over, the Murdocks head back to Vancouver - 13ish May 2002

After being told by numerous interviewers that my planned August graduation was at an akward time I finally decided to postpone it and do another internship. I called my manager at HP from last summer and he said sure, come on back. So we did. The move went smoothly and we are enjoying it here in the rainy northwest again. We will be here for 8 months this time. Just long enough for me to really get used to not being in school before I have to go back.
