My hopes and dreams for easy Ubuntu upgrades were realized today. I upgraded from Breezy Badger to Dapper Drake with the simple click of the mouse. OK, maybe it was, like, 5 clicks, but the point is, it was incredibly automated and smooth. Exactly what I was hoping. I did have to reinstall Amarok manually when it was all done for some reason, but other than that everything else seems to have Just Worked.
It all seems a little too easy, in fact, so let me know if the website does anything funny. There's gotta be a problem somewhere, right?

I just scanned Reece's footprints and put them online. The nurse did these at the hospital just before his first bath.

Reece is now a week old. There were a couple notable things about his first week. One is how much his older brothers adore him. I woke up one morning to the sound of Micah crying. Following the noise led me to Reece's room were Micah was laying on the floor, and Isaac was standing on a chair gazing at Reece as he lay in his crib. Apparently Isaac had won the fight for the best viewing position. Another morning Ily found Micah tossing his toy cars up into the crib for Reece to play with. He's never been so eager to share before.
The other event from last week was Ily's mom visiting. She had fun playing at the park with the older boys and holding Reece. Of course she took lots of great pictures. Unfortunately she also found out what a terrible job America West Airlines does. They missed her connecting flights and lost her luggage going both directions. This is after they lost our luggage and broke our stroller on our last flight. In case you were wondering, I wouldn't recommend America West.

Just a quick announcement: Reece John Murdock was born Friday June 16, 2006 at 5:45 pm at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital. Ily was induced starting at about 9 a.m. It took a long time for her to get to a 4, and then it took less than 30 minutes for her to deliver. Ily and Reece are doing very well. He was 7 lbs. 15 ounces and 20.5 inches long. Pictures have been posted.

I just posted a few pictures and movies from the past little while. Melinda and Benj came to visit and we took them on a "Max" tour of downtown Portland. We hit Powell's Bookstore, Mio Gelato, PGE Park (on accident), PSU campus, and Hot Lips Pizza. The weather was so perfect, and we saw people lining up for the Starlight Parade. I was tempted to have us stay ourselves, but we decided not to. Seeing it pour rain on the parade goers on TV that night made me glad we didn't.
We also attended the official graduation ceremony for Isaac's Joy School class. He was presented with an offical diploma and we got to hear some of our favorite Joy School songs again (well, not my favorite, but some other good ones). It was great.
